#musicmonday – Red by Elbow

So next weekend my sister is getting married. It’s been a long time coming, but sometimes that’s what it takes to get things right, and I think my sister and their fiancée have got this one very right. As a little tribute, here’s the first song I thought of. It could have been one of any number of Britpop songs, or something Dylan. But it’s this one that popped to mind.

It’s a lovely drifting ethereal bit of Britpop, with the drums and Garvey’s falsetto adding the touch of anxiety that makes the lyrics come alive. And they are lovely lyrics in their way, full of caring when it’s needed most. So I’m very happy to have been reminded of this song.
