#musicmonday – Anvil of Crom by Basil Poledouris

ARTWORK by chic2view from 123RF.com

Hi all, and welcome to another Music Monday, an idea that originated at The Tattooed Book Geek – ‘just a nobody with a blog’ (wordpress.com).

It being Wyrd & Wonder, I want to go with a fantasy theme for this month’s Music Monday. And what with it being a bank holiday and me struggling to remember it’s Monday, I’m going with the easy one of picking a song from maybe the greatest fantasy soundtrack ever.

This is usually the part of the post where I tell you a little about what makes this song so great, what it means to me and so on but honestly, can I beat just saying “listen to it”? Don’t you want to run through a wall and go loot some ruins or something? This is a type of fantasy made manifest as music – something primal, full of gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth – and I love it as much as I love that type of fantasy.

Here’s hoping you like it too.
