#musicmonday – Morrowind/Skyrim Medley played by Taylor Davis and Lara

Hi all, and welcome to another Music Monday, an idea that originated at The Tattooed Book Geek – ‘just a nobody with a blog’ (wordpress.com).

And, since it’s Wyrd & Wonder month, I decided to go full fantasy with this selection once again, with a trip to the land of Tamriel. There are many covers on YouTube of Elder Scrolls music, but this one is my particular favourite and has been for a long time. It takes me right back to Morrowind aka the greatest game of its moment ever.

I am, for once, short of words about what Morrowind means to me and my conception of fantasy. I can only flail around with sentences like “there’s been nothing else like it” or “it should be a movie” or… yeah. One day I’ll try harder on Morrowind. Not today. In any case, you can hear a lot of what made it such an experience, such a story, in the gentle build and yearning of the music. It was wonder and alienness and regret. There was another song I listened to a lot then which also hit a lot of the same resonances for me, particularly when I thought about the part of the story including Vivec, forever the baddest god alive (bad meaning bad and bad meaning good). Since I’m a giver, here’s a bonus:

Hope you enjoyed them all.
